Here's to 2015

Hay Deep Spacers,

Well 2015 is no more and 2016 is here. I must say the last year seemed to go by so fast. But 2015 was a very good year, none the less. So for a few stats:

In 2015 we had a total of 296 posts, with 11 personal logs for a total of 307 posting entries. We also saw a total of 61 different characters, and 25 different NPCs over the year. I should add that these numbers are taken from the site, so I didn’t do the math on that in my head. Overall 2015 was a good year with lots of activity.

As the numbers show we had a lot of people come and go; but I am pleased with the core group of people we have. We have a number of creative, interesting, and odd people. Yes I said ODD and you know who you are! But for each one of you who stuck it out and worked through the changes over the year I want to thank you. I will very confident that with this group of players we will see a great 2016.

So what do I see for 2016, well I am glad you asked:

Personal Logs

I admit I am just as guilty when it comes to these, but they are a great tool to help with not only plot development but also character development as well. these logs should be written in a style that was demonstrated in the TV shows. They are a monologue done in first person. If you need a better explanation send me an email.

Simm Theme

As suggested there is an overall theme that has been played out in several missions over the last year and we will really be diving into this in the next 3 missions. So look forward to some good things to come. If you have an idea for a mission please send it my way, I always to see crew getting involved behind the scenes too.

Activity

We've seen some good activity from several of our players, but there is still a few out there who seem to be struggling. I know I say it in most of my emails but if you need help please do not hesitate to contact myself or the Kaichi. We are both here if you need help, or a kick in the butt :)

On the topic of Activity, I also want to stress that while Character Development (CD) is definitely accepted and highly encouraged it can't happen at the expense of Mission Related posts. The plot must go on, as they say. Tags here and there are great but we need to see posts from your department, related to the mission.

It is my desire that each crew member sends at least 1 post a week, and these should be mission related (in theory). You can always do more, but 1 a week ago be at least our goal.

Mission Dates

Now before I talk about this I can already see some of you sighing. But I would stress that Mission Dates are a good tool to help establish a timeline. They help keep some form of continuity within the various storylines. I know we all miss these from time to time, but try hard to remember them. If you need a better description of what a Mission Date is, refer to this link: http://gameofgeeks.com/ds7/index.php/wiki/view/page/45

I could keep going but I don't want to ramble on and on, cause at some point most of you will stop reading. All in all, I am very happy and can't wait to see what this new year brings. With this group of players I can only imagine the fun trouble we will all get into.

So here is to you all, I hope you have a wonderful 2016. Happy Simming
