Simm Changes

Hay Deep Spacers,

Fair warning this might be a longer than normal message. After much internal discussion, talking with other Commanding Officers, and really sitting down to take a look at things like activity, promotions, and general interaction the Command Staff has come up with a plan for our little simulation. This plan takes a lot of the guess work off of the Command Team and gives you as players a better understanding of what is expected from you. First off I would like to thank Commodore Hawkins and Captain Kavi (within the Fleet) for their assistance in all this and giving us some great ideas.

Now before I get to far in this, as with any new venture this is always subject to change or editing as we fine tune things and work the bugs out. So the new changes and additions can be found at the following link; but please read the reminder of this news article first.

Department Head Requirements

This document is fairly self-explanatory and lays out the requirements for any player holding a Department Head position. It gives clear direction and guidelines the player will need in order to remain in their position. There is a lot of information here and it is very detailed in my opinion, but in order for a game to survive the Department Head role must be taken seriously and remain active. I’ve seen too many Departments that just are not getting involved, so I think this section will help a lot going forward.

General Guidelines

No real change here just updated to current information.

Inactivity Policies

In this section we attempted to define what inactivity is and how it will be treated by the Command Staff. Please remember the key to any situation is communication. As with everything the Command Team is more than willing to work with anyone and help in any way we can. The last thing we want to do it “punish” someone; but for the health of the game we need to have some basic items in place to keep her going strong.

Standard Player Policy

Just like the Department Head section this section deals with all those players who do not hold a Department Head post; this does include civilians.

Promotions

Perhaps the section that was changed and edited the most. We have adapted a point system from a sister simm. This point system will assign a point valve to your posts and those numbers are viewable in this section. As players post they earn points, and those points are totaled up each month and will be reviewed by the Command Team. It is important to note that promotions are not automatic, the Command Staff will take into account overall involvement and reasonability.

I have totaled up everyone’s posts from the past as best as I can and I will work on setting up a wiki page to be updated monthly with every one’s totals. This will allow you to monitor your own progress and see where you are at in regards to rank.

Again I know I said this a few times, but it is a work in progress as things develop we may find some bugs to work out. Also we love suggestions and ideas, so if you have ideas to help please feel free to email the Command Team Member and we will discuss it.

Also a side note for those that use Google Hangout, or Gmail. Did you know we have our very own Google Hangout Chat Room? Well we do! At any given time there can be up to 5, 6 people in the chat room. If you would like to join it, send me your contact information and I will add you. We would love to chat, socialize, and get to know you as a player.
