The United Federation of Planets uses a letter-based planetary classification system to categorize planets based on factors such as atmosphere, surface type, size, and vegetation. Each class is designated a letter of the English alphabet from A to Y (as of 2379). For example, Class M planets are those most suitable for humanoid life. -
