Race Facts
Telepathic
Silver eyes
Common to have bright red hair, those with genes for darker hair generally still have some red tones
Alcaren genes are always dominant until 1/8th dilution.
Generally known as xenophobic - after several less than favorable encounters with the universe, they tend to keep to themselves, forcing all trade to go through their moon Montouf, as to keep poor influence off their homeworld. As time goes on the Alcaren people are slowly growing out of their xenophobia, but some older generations are sticks in the mud.

Mental bonds created on various levels depending on relationships:
Familiar: Family or friends who spend a lot of time together may find each other's mental presence comforting, and may be very attuned to each other. This bond fades with separation. Any Alcaren can form this with any person, but a nontelepath may not be aware of it or feel it. First level: “Firsting” a low-level bond that allows potential mates to explore if their minds match enough to create a bond. This bond fades with separation over the course of several days. Any Alcaren can form this with any person, any person will be aware of it and feel it. Bonding: Formed between couples at the time of first intimacy, permanent, can only be broken in death. This bond can be formed with anyone. For this reason, Alcaren are not generally promiscuous, in fact they are generally thought of as prudish, however, the risk of bonding with someone they don’t want to commit to is too high a risk. There has been development of technology which will prevent bonding, however it is not proven to work and is still very risky. Also intimacy without bonding will go against their instincts causing depression and instability in the long term.

Telepathic information
Alcaren are born with telepathic abilities, strength varies from person to person. There are 15 levels of telepathic ability with 15 being the lowest.
Below are markers of additional abilities per level, each level includes the abilities of the level above it.

Level 15: Basic empathy, mind to mind conversation with other telepaths
Level 9: full Empathic, mind to mind conversation with willing non telepathic minds.
Level 6: (Most common range) Full telepath, can speak to or read any mind that does not have natural telepathic resistance.
Level 4: mild telekinesis, can move small objects with intense concentration
Level 1: Only two known alive in current time line. Names are classified for their protection. Full telepath, high levels of telekinesis. Enough to control a high jump or move an object no more than 400 pounds. Telekinesis is exhausting. Ability to force telepathic mind examination. Theoretically can kill telepathically.
To be a member of the royal guard, must be a level 4 or higher.

Telepathic laws: Forced telepathic contact is deeply frowned upon and can be cause for arrest for harassment.

Forced bonding is punishable by death to ensure freedom for the victim. The Alcaren Government will even send people off the plant to hunt down an offender.

Influencing a mind to do one's bidding is criminal

Random things:
Queen Mayla Marie II is deaf and has an eye implant to translate sounds for her. She prefers not to use it.
The Queen has yet to bear children
Crown Princess Alexandria Francis (Sister in law to the queen) was one of the first to leave the planet and join Starfleet in an attempt to help join the cultures. She married a human, and bore twins. This became the first time the nobility has had to consider non full blooded Alcarens for royal Heirs.
Nobel Mar Hemlorac was another first to leave the planet, joining a merchant crew to explore the universe. He bonded to Bly Slade. His father and older brother passed away, leaving him master of his house.
Bly Slade Hemlorac doesn’t get along with the Alcaren.

Keziah Mathrein Revelation Phyr joined Starfleet, feeling as she could not fit in with what was asked of her. She became a 1st Lt In SPEAR, a special ops group. She has an explosive marriage with Starfleet Engineer Lt. Nathan Phyr. Both are fiery passionate people and their relationship is… legendary. Keziah admits to being a level 3, however she is a level 1.

Koyajij is a telepathic illness in which the body can endure too much pain and in an effort to stop the pain the mind will ‘fold in upon itself’. It can leave the victim in a coma, or cause death. It is most often an issue in childbirth, as such most hospitals have teams of high-level telepaths who can ‘latch on’ to a mind to keep it from folding in. It is not always successful. Keziah Phyrs mother died upon her birth due to Koyajij.

Quenya: Quenya are an important part of the Alcaren culture. In the founding of the Alcaren government, 12 houses were raised to a level of nobility to rule and protect the Alcaren people under the leadership of the Royal house. To ensure their safety and care for their needs families committed themselves and their progeny to protect these nobles, they became the primary warriors of Alcar for many generations. These are the Quneya. Over time with the expansion of families it became less of an obligation and more of a choice whether to serve the house or not. Service is expected from the first two born into each Quenya family, however in more modern times each person is given a choice. As gratitude for family service education is provided to the second generation of the eldest generation still in current service. This ensures that if there is a need for service there are educated members within the family who may be called upon.
