With three PADDs in his hand Joah walked down the long corridor to one of the larger meeting rooms Poseidon station had. It was once again time for the bi-weekly meeting where senior officers of the Operations department get together to discuss the status quo, any technical problems they faced (if any), and planned projects.

He stepped into the large room and noticed there were already a few people present. "Good morning everyone." he said and walked towards the nearest end of the elongated table in the middle of the room.

Madelyn, her hair done in a french braid, had just sat down with a pastry and a cup of coffee. She looked up and gave an acknowledging smile. "Morning Commander." before she took a tentative sip of her coffee, she didn't want to burn her lips.

Yvette entered the room, coffee in one hand, PADD in the other and a robot cat following behind her. "Hi, I'm Yvette the new assistant Chief of Operations." She paused a moment. "And this is Isis." She said indicating the cat.

Madelyn watched as the Assistant chief of operations walked inside, with a... robotic cat? She stood up, placing her hands upon the top fo the table leaning forward to get a better view of the cat. "Isis? Um... I'd like to ask you, if I may. Respectfully sir but, what is with the robotic cat? Tis a very strange thing to even be here in a meeting."

"She's a former Intel asset, and we worked together on some field mission, she was going to be deactivated, so I took her when I left Intel."

Alejandro walked in with a thermos on his hip and sat down and unscrewed the mug and poured his beverage. He pulled out his PaDD and readied it for the meeting. He took a sip of the coffee and smiled. " Good morning all. I trust everyone is well? " He inquired politely. " So what is on the agenda for today? "

Isis looked at the new arrival and gave a bored sounding 'Meow'.

“Lieutenants Beauvoir and Santos,…” Joah hesitated for a moment. But just a moment. He looked down at the robotic cat. “and Isis, good morning and welcome.” Next he looked at Alejandro again. “I forgot to post the agenda, I know. But it hasn’t changed much compared to last time, except that we’ll be welcoming our new colleagues and talk about a few upcoming projects.”

"I am looking forward to finding out the new projects." Madelyn giving a smile.

Joah picked up one of his PADDs and used it to gently tap it on the table. He waited a few seconds until the conversations around the table fell silent.“Now everyone has their preferred morning drinks I think we’re ready to begin. I first like to introduce and welcome both Warrant Officer Madelyn Steele and Lieutenant Yvette Beauvoir.” Joah looked at them when he said their name. “Warrant Officer Steele will be joining Lieutenant Takayama’s team and Lieutenant Beauvoir is the new assistant Chief Operations Officer of our department. I trust everyone will give them a warm welcome and a helping hand while they’re settling in here on Poseidon station.”

“Next is the project of repairing the damage the Breen did to the Station. The last report I read indicated the repairs are almost finished. Does anyone has an update on that?”

"I do know that we have a person that has been put in charge for a refresh of the arboretum. I've not met her yet. I do believe that she maybe contacting us for some of her revisions?" Madelyn offered up.

“That shouldn’t be a problem. We should be able to help her out now that the major repairs are almost done.” Joah said. “Perhaps you can take care of that. Consider it a side-project.” He showed Madelyn brief smile, assuming she would like the job.

"I would be delighted to do so." Madelyn responded. She was intrigued by what could be happening in the Arboretum."

Alejandro spoke up. " All of the repairs to the shielding systems have been repaired and are currently running at one hundred percent. So I'm free if someone needs a hand. so what is this project that's going on in the Arboretum? I've spent enough time there so I could be persuaded to lend a hand if you'd like. " he volunteered.

"Sure I don't mind, we can both go meet up with the one in charge there and set things up." Madelyn looking towards Alejandro.

"Good. Then project arboretum will be in good hands." Joah's reply went together with a brief look at both Madelyn and Alejandro and a nod followed that.

"Since the USS Canterbury is here and I know her Chief Engineer, and he can be a little picky about who allows to work on the ship, I'd like to request permission to act as liaison between the Station and him." Yvette said.

Madelyn looked at Joah, wondering what he'd say to Yvette's request.

“Of course, Lieutenant.” Joah nodded. He wasn’t really surprised to hear about the Chief Engineer not letting just anyone to work on his ship. Many CEOs in the fleet felt the same way. “You’re are familiar with the ship and its crew. That makes you the best person for the job.”

"Thank you, Sir." Yvette said and sent a message to Lieutenant Commander Dalziel of the USS Canterbury.

With that having agreed upon, Joah thought it time to move to the next point on the agenda. "Besides those projects we just talked about there's still the ongoing upgrade of the station. 95% has been done. The plan is to construct the last of the new levels in the next 3 weeks." Before he went on he look around. When was the last time they had a respite from work? "I know we all have been working hard this these last weeks and that you've earned some rest. And you will get it, I promise. But finishing the station has to be our priority. So, in order to lighten the workload, I have requested the Engineering Corps to send us another 2 of their teams. They should arrive within a week from now."

"It looks like we're going to be busy." Madelyn replied with a smile.

"Last but not least is a new upcoming project. I think many of us will be looking forward to this one." Joah activated the last topic of the agenda. With a few taps on the little embedded console before him he activated the holo projector that was build into the center of the conference table they all sat on. Before them hovered a slowly spinning 3D-image of a large hangar. Inside it was an almost equally large ship. Its saucer section wasn't completely finished yet. "This ship, ladies and gentlemen, will be given into our care 5 weeks from now."

Alejandro let out a whistle. " She's a beauty! What's her name? I'd love to get my hands on her shielding systems. I'm assuming that she's got the new FSS 18 Shielding system I've heard about in the engineering journal? " He asked. I would love to see the inside of her engineering section. " He said with a grin.

"I can't wait to see her new offensive systems." Yvette said.

"I am looking forward to just getting my hands upon that project." Madelyn said eagerly. "It sounds rather amazing!"

"It does sound amazing." Agreed Alejandro. "But we've got to wait for five weeks!! That's like being young and waiting for Christmas all over again. What is the name of the ship class? Has it been announced as of yet? If it has perhaps I can look at some of the specs. " Said Alejandro with a hint of hope in his voice.

Joah wasn't able to hide the grin that was forming on his face. "I'm not going to spoil anything, yet. But I can tell you that Starfleet Command hasn't decided on a name yet. I'll let you know when they have."

"Well definitely keep us apprised. " Madelyn replied. "as for now, we have an assistant chief of engineering and welcome once again, Lieutenant Beauvior" giving a smile.

"Thank you Warrant Steele, I'm glad to be here." Yvette replied.

Joah shut down the hologram with another tap on the little embedded console. "Well, we covered everything that's on the agenda. So, as one character said in an archaic animated series from Earth, That's all folks. Questions anyone?"

Madelyn shook her head, "I think you've provided a lot of answers and I am ready to get to work."

"Can we provide our own potential class names?" Yvette asked.

"Or is there a name for it already?" Madelyn asked.

" Well if there isn't a name for her yet, I've got a suggestion. " Said Alejandro. " Most of my heroes when I was growing up have always been inventors and engineers. One I was always impressed with was actress and inventor Hedy Lammarr. She helped develop spread spectrum communications which was the first step into what would become sub space communications that we use today. Not to bad for a lady from the nineteen forties, Eh? "

"I agree with Lieutenant Santos, she was a great woman and it is a tragedy that she has not yet received the honour of a vessel with her name." Yvette said.

"Hmmnn, maybe this will be the chance, if that new ship is worked on here." Madelyn stated then looked over towards Commander Jezka.

“Hedy Lammarr..” Joah thought for a few seconds, trying to remember if he’d heard the name before. “I think I’m getting a bit rusty on the topic of communication.” He stood up, taking all three of his PADDs in his hands again. “I’ll see if I can pull some strings here and there. Perhaps there’s a way to get additional names on the list. So, in the meantime, have fun and be creative in thinking up good names.”

"That sounds great. Does this mean the meeting is over and we go about our business, Sir?" Madelyn dragging her mind away from the upcoming ship project. "I am ready to go get the jobs done." flashing a smile.

The Chief Operations Officer nodded once. “Yes, we’re done here. Lets head back to Operations.”

Yvette led the way and headed for the Canterbury's berth.

" I'll meet you all in operations shortly. " Said Alejandro. " I have to stop and get myself some coffee, not that replicated swill. I can brew up a couple of thermos and bring them with me. Coffee is always best when shared, and nothing beats freshly brewed coffee beans. " He stated with a grin.

Joah nodded “I believe you, Lieutenant, and I think I’ll join you this time. It’s about time I taste some of your by now famous coffee”
