"Holistic," an adjective, is defined by a characterized belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole. When discussing Poseidon Station, what makes us special is the fact that we prioritize community over being just a Star Trek game. We take the time to know our players and aim to be a part of their lives. We laugh with them, cry with them, and offer support. The recipient of this year's Gold Star Commendation demonstrates all this and more—a fact I had to relearn over the last few months. Howie is an ever-present member of the community—active, social, and an all-around terrific guy. More than that, he genuinely cares for the game and its players. Howie brings to life the essence of community, and as the first-ever winner of the Gold Star Commendation, he embodies the spirit of the award. Thank you for all you do, both in-game and out-of-game. ~Jason Howie, you are a powerhouse in this community and someone I value as a friend and not just a friend but as a part of a family. This award embodies the huge amount of work you put in both in game and out of game. You continually amaze me when we talk and work out ideas. You are a valued person, and wanted you to know this. You are a huge part of this community and there is the genuine affection that you have for all of us. You gave the group kudos for helping you through tough times; Howie you have been there for us as well. WE are a unit we are a team, and you are there, working in the trenches with the rest of us.
