Mission: Mini Mission: When The Cat's Away
Location: Security
Timeline: MD03 1100

A message was sent out to meet at 1100 in the security briefing room. At the request of K'doc, Jali sent out a message to certain members of security to have them meet up. She glanced over at Kaylee who had arrived shortly after the notice had been sent out.

It seemed to Kaylee that it had only been weeks since they had their meeting with Samson and now here she was at another meeting, so the others could get to know the new Chief of Security. Much has changed in such a brief amount of time. She had a tea in front of her as she waited for the others to arrive. It was odd at one time she had been the assistant chief of security but now she was in the capacity of being a regular member of the security team. It seemed that things were moving forward at least with Hiro being out of the brig. She had to make sure to go check in on him once the meeting was over.

K'doc arrived back at the security office at a quarter to eleven and put on a fresh pot of raktajino to brew, he enjoyed the fresh aroma as it brewed and his stein was close at hand waiting to receive the freshly brewed contents into the large mug, and it took the entire pot to fill the mug. He walked out and sat at the edge of the desk and waited for the crew to arrive.

Meetings was one of the big things that Nakita hated about Starfleet. She rather like the Maquis way of doing things. If you had a method that worked, use it and get it done. Then talk later... However, she also knew that she had to bide her time, and play along with the fleet until she could return to her family in the New Maquis. She had to play along but she did not have to like it.

So, Nakita walked into the Security suite of rooms and took a seat at the briefing table. She noticed but did chose not to acknowledge the two Klingons in the room. She did know Kaylee and gave her a slight nod as a hello. Other than that Nakita sat silently, as she thought that whatever she would need to know she would be told. After all that is how it worked in the fleet.

This meeting had caused a minor inconvenience for Matsuyo. He'd had a session booked with some enlisted crewmen, a training session going over the newest features of some rifles that had came their way. It was easily reschedulable, but still the hassle of doing so was now present.

Still, he was at the beck and call of his superiors as he had been his entire career and accepted the fluidity of plans. He entered the room and gave his usual head nod of hello to others before sitting next to Kaylee. "Morning Lieutenant. I trust you have had a pleasant morning?" he asked.

"I have so far." Kaylee responded with a good natured smile. Then it slipped away as she noticed that there was several who seemed to be somewhat leery of the two new command staff of security. She wondered just how things were going to start.

It wasn't lost on Jali that there might be some mixed feelings especially noting that they were interacting with the former assistant chief of security. She knew that the abrupt nature and change of Samson leaving was enough to throw anyone off their stride. She decided to just 'break the ice' just to start things happening.

"While we are waiting for the others to arrive we can at the very least start things out. As in, I am Lieutenant Jali Andloch, and I am the new assistant chief of security. I've already in some aspect, have worked with a few of you on the station in dealing with that attempted robbery at the Elysian Dreams."

Matsuyo rose from his seat and gave Jali a bow of respect as a welcome. "Welcome on board, Lieutenant. I am Warrant Officer Matsuyo Nagao, master-at-arms. I remember you from that little work out, it was most enjoyable. Sometimes it is good to stretch some old muscles out."

Jali gave a nod towards Nagao, "Yes it is good to be doing so, and it gave me a chance to see how well you worked with the others."

Isabelle wasn't a fan of the meet and greet, they always felt like a waste of time to her. She also wasn't about to deny the request of the new Chief of Security. She had a few open cases she was working, and felt that they needed her time more than whatever this was about to be.

As she stepped in, she glanced at the others in the room. Unlike them, she was armed and had a shield on her belt that denoted that she was an investigator rather than a normal security officer. She picked a spot up on the wall and leaned up against it.

Kaylee was watching as the others were coming in and their interactions with each other. She had a slight pang about leaving as the security team was certainly proving to be rather interesting. Kaylee gave Isabelle a nod in greeting, she noted the posture that the investigations officer had, and Kaylee understood the body language. She had experienced the very same desire to get out and do her work, and get the job done. Kaylee gave a slight sigh, she was looking for that investigation to be done as well.

Her eyes moved towards where K'doc was perched upon the edge of the desk, as he seemed to be waiting for the rest to arrive. The rather large Klingon had this 'feel' about him that he wasn't going to waste too much time to give his briefing. And also she knew that he wasn't someone who would go for long briefing either.

K'doc looked about the room and then stood up and nodded to those in the room. " I am K'doc Valadorn, your new chief. I'm not going to bore you with some long winded talk about what I expect of you, You already know that. If your not here to provide security to the federation and it's citizens and uphold it's laws, then your in the wrong line of work. " he scanned the room to judge the reaction.

He continued. " There have been several changes that I've implemented which will take effect as of today. First off, due to the explosions on the station and the bomb that was disarmed yesterday in Station Ops. All Security tricorders have been loaded with an explosive sensing program and will be done every seventy two hours to insure we don't have needless lose of lives. Civilian security will also be helping in this endeavor by having they're people do the same. "

" Second point. Patrols will be in two man teams from here on out. Those not on patrol will be assigned to be stationed inside of a critical area. From this day forward you will carry your side arm and a knife. A phaser rifle along with your tactical vest and helmet and a tricorder, there will be no exceptions and I will explain to you why in a minute. '

" The third point doesn't affect you. But the surveillance room will be manned twenty four hours a day and they will over watch you while your on patrol and help be an extra set of eyes for you and alert you to any suspicious activity they see, they will be referred to as guardian angel on the comms. This is for your own protection. "

He looked about the room again . " And now we come to the reason for why these changes are taking place. Around forty hours ago down on deck 173 in one of the cargo bays we had an incident. I don't know if it was a deal gone bad or the officer just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we lost an officer who was outright murdered. He was cut down with a bat'leth and then vaporized with a disruptor. There was also a intelligence officer who was nearly gutted like a fish and left for dead, She will survive thankfully. With the description she provided we were able to pull an image of the suspect. We have reason to believe that this group may be involved in the black market and were attempting to acquire photon torpedoes for an unknown purpose. So that is the reason for the changes, because none of you are going to do me or anyone else any good if your dead. " He let those words sink in.

" A little about me. Before going to Starfleet Academy, I was with the KDF 132nd ground assault forces and a House Hurric Marine. If you have a problem and it is within my capacity to take care of the problem, then I will help you or find someone who can. That is all I have for you at this time. And this is Lieutenant Jali Andloch, She is your new assistant chief. She's a good person and knows her job well. Before I forget. Lieutenant Mattix, I am appointing you as the lead investigator for this department. Qa'pla. Are there any questions you would ask of me at this time? "

Isabelle was surprised by the bump, but she didn't let it show on her face. Instead she pushed off the wall and nodded, "Yes, sir. Two things. I will need the files on the murder, as that is a case I'll take on. Second, are investigators required to follow the same outline? I don't mind the vest or armed requirements as we do have under the uniform vests, but if we show up looking like we're ready for a fight, those we interview may not be as forthcoming."

K'doc nodded. " Good, I'm glad to see you speak your mind. For investigators I believe that a vest and sidearm should be enough, along with a tricorder and your PaDD. I'll leave the carrying knife up to you. You made a valid point on looking overly aggressive to conduct interviews may not be the best idea if we want our witnesses to feel safe and comfortable. But we'll need to go with upgraded security for awhile until we can clear out some of this criminal element from the station, after that we can scale back a bit. Any other questions? "

Both Jali and Kaylee shook their heads, they didn't have any other questions. "That sounds feasible." Jali speaking up.

Nakita sat and listened to all that happened with her arms folded. Any emotions that she may have had about what happened did not show on her face. Everything this Klingon had spoken about made sense, and in some cases she just played her usual self just to keep up appearances. She really had nothing to add to the conversation, so for the time being she kept her mouth closed.

Matsuyo stood and gave the Klingon a respectful bow. "Honoured to meet you sir, I am Warrant Officer Nagao, master at arms. I do not have a question but if you have different training methods you wish to be implemented then I am at your service. I look forward to working with you." He nodded a bit then sat back down.

K'doc smiled and nodded to Nagao. " Domo Arigato. " He said to the Warrant officer. " It's good to have you on the team Warrant Officer Nagao. And if there is anything I need I'll be more then happy to have your help. " He looked about the room once again. " Is there anyone else that has any comments or thoughts? If so I'd like to hear them. "

Nakita practically rapped her knuckles on the table with impatience. She wanted the dismissal so she could return to her work and get as far away from a meeting as possible.

" No other questions? " He looked about for the last time. " In the future don't expect a lot of meetings, there won't be any unless we have a crisis. If you have something to bring up to me in private then do so. If nothing else, then get back to work. Dismissed. "

Nakita had never liked the word dismissed more. She knew that she would be in for something now that a Klingon was in charge. However, now was not the time that she wanted to test the new Chief. So without a word she left the briefing room and went back to her duties.

Japanese business philosophy. A meeting is like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover everything and short enough to keep it interesting.
