Mission: Mini Mission: When The Cat's Away
Location: Commodore's Office
Timeline: MD002 1800

1800 Cara dressed in black slacks, a light blue tunic style top with a wide black belt around her waist. Her hair was loose and flowing but the caught back from her face with a comb that had a light blue flower. She was heading towards the childcare center to pick up the kids when she realized something she'd forgotten to do. She did an about-face and sent a message to the caretakers that she'd be a little bit later in picking the kids up. She tapped on the commbadge.

"Lieutenant Valadorn please meet me at Commodore Rice's office, you and I need to have a meeting with him." Then she closed that communication and tapped on her badge and contacted Tom.

"Acknowledged and en route," Came K'doc's reply.

"Commodore Rice, sorry to do a last-minute, unplanned meeting, but I'm on the way to your office with our new Chief of Security, Lieutenant Valadorn. I'll explain when we get there."

She arrived just outside the door which led to the Commodore's office, waiting for K'doc to arrive.

About a minute later K'doc arrived. He had to duck his head, as usual, to fit under the door frame. "Commander," He looked at Letsul. "Is there a security concern that you need me to resolve? If so, let me know and I'll take care of it. "

"Lieutenant Valadorn, actually it's about what happened on operations, and I wanted to report to Commodore Rice as to what took place, and I wished you to be present, after all, you are the new chief of security," Cara replied.

" As you wish Commander. " Said K'doc. " I shall provide whatever insight I may to your report. " As he stood at parade rest.

Tom had been going over reports from the sector as well as a bit of information from the station that had crossed his desk. To be honest, as much as he liked Cara he wasn't entirely sure she would be able to handle this crazy crowd. Starbase 50 boasted some stubborn and thick-headed Officers, he glanced down at the padd in front of him. "Including a new Chief of Security," he wondered about the sudden change.

He heard the door chime as he looked up from the desk, "enter," he called out. He continued to look at the door, noting Cara's arrival. "Cara," he smiled, "I wasn't expecting you..." he paused seeing the face from the padd in front of him entire behind her. "yI'el," he hoped his Klingon wasn't too rusty, "nuqneH," he stood up from the desk as he approached the doorway. "Welcome to Starbase 50, Lieutenant."

"Hello Commodore," Cara in business form, "I wanted you to meet our new chief of security, plus... Lieutenant Valadorn was instrumental in making certain there wasn't another explosive attack on the station." she walked over towards a chair to take a seat, then paused to look at Tom. "And I mean that literally." She gripped the back of the chair, as she continued. "I can give you the long story, or, Lieutenant Valadorn can give you the rest of it. I will say this, Intelligence had caught wind of another possible bomb and let me know, and I called the Lieutenant in to check things out." she looked at K'doc. "I will let him continue the report."

" jav qam Du' wIv!! " Came K'doc's immediate reply, followed by a nod. " Thank you for the greeting Commodore. I look forward to serving the needs of the station Commodore. " He turned and nodded to Cara. " Very well Commander, I shall continue the report."

" I was informed by Commander Letsul that intelligence caught wind of a third explosive device that may have been planted in Ops. I grabbed my demolitions kit and went to Ops. While enroute I had security block the incoming shift from entering the area and to slowly have them evacuate Ops in a controlled manner. I arrived with two green officers under the pretense of tricorder training. It took ten minutes to do a complete scan of the Ops center before the device was located , I used my training in demolitions to disarm the device. The bomb was taken to the security crime labs for processing. "

A worker bee pod was noticed near one of the windows by the outer hull and was seen fleeing the scene, I ordered it to be tractor beamed and brought in so the suspect could be apprehended, there was a flash of light from inside of the worker bee pod and the suspect had been transported out by a cloaked vessel, the pod is also being processed at this time Sir. We checked to see who was registered to be working in the pod and that computer entry has been erased, We are currently working on seeing if we can recover the erased data. It is a good thing that Commander Letsul informed me of the device, had it gone off during shift change in Ops, we would have most likely lost between a quarter and half of the people in Ops Commodore. That would have put a critical damper in the command structure and with station operations. That concludes my report at this time, You will be updated as we get new information in. "

"One more update to add to this whole report. I was called to Medical by Doctor Vedan, bio mimetic gel had been stolen from the lab, it had been discovered by him when he was taking inventory." she directed this bit of news to both K'doc as well as Tom. "Also Lieutenant Valadorn, Doctor Vedan would like you to take the sample you have to Medical and the two of you can compare what he has and what you have found and then he had an idea of running a station wide scan." There was the sign of some weariness evident in her voice and in her eyes. Maybe even in the way she stood, not letting go of the back of the chair.

Cara knew she was bombarding Tom with a lot of information but, he needed to know first hand and not by someone else. "Also, I need to go get the kids from childcare and get them home. I'm taking care of Captain Harrington and Adira's children and animals. Sorry to drop this in your lap like this." Cara reaching up to play with one of her strands of hair, wrapping it around her finger.

" Are you saying that someone weaponized Bio Mimetic gel? " K'doc asked. " We'll have to figure out how much was taken and how many devices could have been made from that amount. We will launch an immediate investigation into who had access to the Bio mimetic gel and expand our investigations into the first and second bombing at the Elysium Dreams and upper Pylon 6 and back trace all security footage with any medical or security persons who might have had access to the Bio Mimetic gel and investigate them. Those that pan out will be eliminated from being a suspect, Those that don't will bear further investigation. Do I have permission to carry out the investigation as outlined Sir? Or do you have something else in mind? " He asked Commodore Rice.

Tom took a deep breath in, "babysitting Harrington's children sounds more dangerous than bombs on the station." He looked to their new Klingon Chief of Security, "Security is your area Lieutenant you don't need my permission, just make sure you follow all proper procedures and nail these bastards. I don't need them getting off on a mishap. Until we have more answers, I want hourly sweeps of the station, Cara," he paused, "Commander Letsul. Search for anything that the computer says could be used as an explosive device. Loop in security as needed so the Lieutenant's people can follow up. For now, as annoying as it might be nothing is too small. We can't afford for anything to go unnoticed."

"Lieutenant, I don't relish the idea of declaring something like martial law, it causes more harm than good,' Tom stood in front of the Klingon, "but consider this your unofficial permission. Do what is needed to make sure that we don't have another explosion on this station. If you run into red tape or an uncooperative guest let me know."

" I understand Commodore, I will do everything by the book and document all information to keep things above board. There will be an increase in armed security patrols, and I shall do my best not to make the station appear to be an armed military camp. I will also have security placed inside of all critical areas and hourly sweeps as ordered, Commodore. " K'doc thought for a brief moment. " Question. Would you like me to keep this strictly a security operation? Or shall i include the Marines and civilian security as well? "

Listening to both K'doc and Tom, Cara gave a slight sigh of relief. "If you both will excuse me, I've got to go pick up the kids from childcare. I am making sure to keep up on a regular schedule for them." Cara realized she didn't really need to say anything. "And don't worry, I will also be keeping tabs on things as well." She glanced over to K'doc and then over towards Tom, she had a slight smile when she looked at the Commodore.

Tom nodded, "thank you Cara," he smiled turning back to the Klingon, "I am sure that the Marines would be happy to assist and their training is equally fit for such a task. I believe Master Sergeant Robert Schiano is currently in command of the Marines in the Colonel's absence. However a 1st Lieutenant Baaru recently beamed aboard as well." He shook his head, "just meet with one of them and see how the Marine can offer assistance.

"I don't wanna worry any of the civilians living on this station, god knows they have been through enough already," Tom added, "but the safety of this station is my priority. Until we are damn certain there is no more explosive devices then do what you need to get the job done."

K'doc stroked his beard and grinned. " Then how about I take care of both situations at the same time? We use the PA system and announce that due to the recent problems of the past few months, that the Marines and Security will be conducting and extended emergency preparedness drill for the security of the station and training. What do you think? This way when they see the marines and security out in heavy numbers, they won't think twice about it."

Cara gave one more smile, then made her last comment before leaving. "I think that is a good idea." and with that she left Tom's office to go get the kids.
