LOA and ELOA Requirements

Posted on 08/29/2016 @ 8:22am by Captain Cornelius Harrington

Hay Deep Spacers,

I wanted to take a moment to clarify LOA, and ELOA requests; and the need for a “return date” in your request. First off yes we grant LOAs, and no I am not taking LOAs away. But here lately I have been getting several requests for an LOA without an expected return date. Some have even included the phrase "no idea of return date at this point." Yes, it’s been in a few.

So when requesting an LOA please use the “Request LOA” option on the site; it’s in the Control Panel. Personal emails are nice, but can at times get overlooked. Using the site is just a better option for all involved. Secondly, if you are going to request an LOA, or ELOA a "return date" is required; it can be listed in the duration box.

Secondly, something new we created is an On Vacation position. This is a position for players who will be on an extremely long-extended LOA; and one that will seriously affect the game. While we try to accommodate all LOA requests there is times where the LOA will negatively affect the game due to their length. I know these are rare, and don’t happen that often but in these cases we have attempted to create a way of allowing the ELOA without affecting the game.

The On Vacation position will keep a player’s account and character on the site but will give the Command Staff the ability to open up a needed position. Once the player is able to return they will be reintegrated into the game, quite possibly in a new position. But it is important to note that even in these rare instances a return date is still required, to an extent.

I know this is simple, but it’s been increasing over the last few months so I felt the need to just address it and give everyone the expectation for LOAs and ELOAs.

Thanks for your help,

Harrington
