Mission Summary
Back Story:
The planet Mirada II has been a peaceful world located on the edge of Federation and Romulan space. With colonies from both empires living in peaceful cohabitation for centuries. However recent tensions within the Federation, directed at Romulus, has reached the planet Mirada. In recent trade negotiations with the Federation Romulan Ambassador Valkora was able to convince the Federation to return complete control of the planet to the Empire, in trade for the release of several key Federation Citizens currently being held in Romulan Prisons.
Under orders to negotiate a peaceful surrender of control, Captain Harris and the USS Caldwell were order to Mirada II. Once there they were to work with Governor Jarrrell and his Romulan Counterpart, Governor Somek to accomplish their goal. Shortly after their arrival the crew of the Caldwell learned that the Federation colonists had no desire to leave and were more than willing to defend their home.
Harris felt pulled between protecting the Federation Colony and following orders. However, her instructions were clear; if the colonists refuse to leave there is little the Caldwell can do. The Caldwell had been ordered to leave the Federation colony at the hands of the incoming Romulan Government. Realizing that abandoning the colony would mean certain doom for the Federation citizen’s Harris and much of her Senior Staff violate orders giving the colony supplies, equipment, weapons, and resources to at least give them a fighting chance.
Knowing that their actions would mean the end of their own career and despite objections from several crew members; Harris and a core group of Officers took control of the Caldwell. Now on the run the Caldwell and Captain Harris are at odds with the Federation.
Current Story:
Having recently assumed command of the Roanoke, Captain Harrington is contacted by Star Fleet Command. Harrington is informed of the Caldwell’s recent activity is told that the Caldwell has been out of contact for nearly a week. Hoping to capitalize on Harrington’s relationship with the Caldwell’s Executive Officer Star Fleet orders the Roanoke to locate the missing Caldwell, assume command of the ship, and bring their crew (namely Captain Harris) to justice. Harrington is also told that while Harris’ actions were noteworthy they did little to assist the colony as all hands were lost. Star Fleet holds Harris personally responsible for the loss of the colony and demands Harrington exhaust all possible resources in order to find the missing Caldwell.
Roadblock 1
Upon arriving at the planet, the crew learns of the possibility that a few of the colonists are alive unlike the information shared in the briefing. Realizing that the mission must take a backseat to the possibility of getting those survivors off the planet Neil assembles a small away team to beam to the planet. While the Away Team is able locate a few survivors; Governor Jarrrell, his Assistant, and a few others, most of the work of the Away Team is hampered by Governor Somek. Governor Somek sees the Federation has the enemy and is not happy about the Roanoke’s arrival. Unknown to the Away Team, Governor Somek has called reinforcements to the planet to ensure that the Roanoke is unable to assist the Away Team if needed.
Roadblock 2
The Roanoke in orbit of the planet is cut off from the Away Team and learns that several Romulan Warbirds are en-route to the planet. Dealing with the survivors who were beamed from the planet and keeping their ship safe the Roanoke must keep things in balance in order to remain on task. Yes, you get to deal with some spacy battle stuff

Possible Mission Subplots:
1) Romulan retaliation against the Federation Officers for the colony member's attack. They see the Federation assistance from the Caldwell as Federation support.
2) The Romulans call in assistance, to deal with the Roanoke therefore cutting off support for the ground team.
3) Remaining Colonists refuse to cooperate with the Roanoke staff, and see any support as a betrayal of the Caldwell's support.
4) Open to ideas, if you have an idea share it.
