Ghost Writer

648 words; about a 3 minute read

Cara's breathing became that of someone falling into a deep sleep, and when she fell asleep, T'Mar woke up. She stretched her arms above her head, and then laid there looking at the ceiling, then around the quarters of her hostess. She rose from the bed poured herself a drink and enjoyed the taste of the wine her hostess had in stock, she even partook of some food as well. Then she moved to where Cara's computer was and fired it up.

"Computer please start a log for T'Mar." She looked over to the bed where she envisioned Cara asleep there, fast asleep. Then turned back.

"First log and maybe my only one. I felt a need to write down my thoughts before whatever happens, happens. I am T'Mar, former wife of Lupe Fernandez. Fernandez one whom had carried my Katra for many years until I called for Cara's help, when he lay dying. She had already written about me though, in her own personal log, so I needn't repeat it. For many years I had been hidden away from her conscious mind lying in a deep slumber, until one day I was woken up. From what I can tell linking her mind to a.. Captain Harrington. I will not belabor that point either. It had been already spoken between myself and you, Cara.

Cara, this is all about you. You had wondered why your romances with others never continued, It was due to Fernandez. He couldn't seem to bear the fact that you were going into a relationship with anyone but him. There was love between you two but, there was the matter of me being in him at one point, then me being hosted by you. I came between you and he, for something you both desired and had such a draw. Such a dance between you two, like the sun and the moon coming close but never touching except for when an eclipse happened. Even then, those were rare occasions. Could it be said you and Fernandez ill fated lovers who could never be together? A rift that the two of you could not cross, could not bridge.

You sent Fernandez away to his home, where he could recover safe and sound where only you knew where he was. Except for his family. You hid him, hid him from others, you knew him well, sent him sailing upon the open sea where he was truly happy. A true smile upon his lips, beneath the clear azure blue sky, upon his ship. Standing upon the deck feeling the roll of the waves beneath his feet. The creaking of the timber, the scent of the tar used to keep the seams of the ship water tight. I am grateful to you for what you have done, for protecting him and protecting me. The time is close at hand for us to part ways, for you to find a new path. What will you do without me in your head, you've had me for so many years. I hope you will find peace, and your tears to finally dry. I know you cry within your dreams, constantly searching for something but never finding what that is.

The day may come where your search will end, find what will truly make you happy, or for that matter, relearn to live. Much like your brother Elias wished you to do. Forge a new path, rejoin the living, reconnect. Just live. Besides you do find that Neil Harrington attractive, and you are attracted to him. Adira was right that you are attracted to him. He is easy on the eyes. My final piece is this. Go back to your roots to the things that give you life and laughter. Be more true to yourself, find yourself once more. Just live and just breathe.

T'Mar signing out, and ready to say farewell.
