Mission: Pages...
Location: Starbase 50 (Poseidon Station) - Level 22 - Chief Counsellor's Office
Timeline: MD 5

Having met her new boss, Yvette made her way to the Chief Counsellor's Office, to check in.

Entering the waiting room, the Assistant Chief of Operations, was about to approach the Commander Letsul's yeoman, when she noticed a familar face waiting in one of the provided chairs.

"Jason." She said "what the Hell are you doing here?"

"You're looking at Starbase 50's new Linguist, I arrived a few hours ago." Jason said. "Surprise." He added with a smile.

"It sure is." Yvette replied. "Its strange seeing you in Intel grey, I expected you to be in Sciences teal or Ops gold. I must say it suits, you, Mon Frère."

"Well, I best take that as a compliment as they are few and far between from you, Ma Sœur." Jason replied.

"That was how I meant it." Yvette said. "Hove you seen Ma'ma? Her ship, the Canterbury is undertaking repairs here."

"Not yet." Jason said. "What led to this thawing of feelings between you and our mother?" He asked.

"She gave me a lift, I had to act civil." Yvette said. "Great to see you again, Mon Frère, but I have an appointment."

Approaching the Yeoman's desk, she said. "Lieutenant Yvette Beauvoir, here to see Commander Letsul."

A call to Cara's office brought the dark haired counselor to the reception lobby. She took a glance at the two people whose emotions was permeating the air. "Hello there, I am Commander Cara Letsul, I was summoned?" her eyes were twinkling with amusement but her face was rather calm.

"Yes, Ma'am I'm Lieutenant Yvette Beauvoir, and this is my brother Lieutenant Jason Beauvoir, we're both new to the station, and it seems we chose the same time to meet you for our psych assessments." Yvette explained.

Twins, Cara thought to herself, her mind going towards her older sisters being twins. She had witnessed for herself the rivalry twins can have. And also the team work that they also display.

"Well then, I can have you both come in and get your evaluation at the same time or one of you can wait while the other is finished. I do not mind having you both come in at the same time. It is your choice to do either one."

"Age before beauty." Yvette said. "Go ahead Mon Frère." To Cara she said. "Jason's the more interesting one, I'm just your regular everyday sociopath with narcissistic tendencies, and abandonment issues."

"Yeah, my only luck seems to be in cards." Jason joked, but the humour didn't reach is eyes. They showed more of a haunted look.

Cara's lips turned into a thin line after hearing this sort of exchange. "I think both of you need to come inside." Without another word she turned to lead the way towards her office.

Jason and Yvette followed Cara inside. Jason looked around. "How cozy." he said taking in the mixture of cherry wood panelling and forest green carpet. "I looks like it belongs in Rivendall." He added heading for the bookcase.

"It smells great too." Yvette said. "Is that lavender, sage and thyme, I smell?" She asked.

"Yes that is correct." Cara stated, "Why don't the two of you have a seat, and also thank you for the compliment. " turning her gaze towards Jason.

Cara wasn't wearing her uniform of command, much like she has done in the past she had other clothing on. Cara's outfit consisted of a pair of dark grey boho harem yoga pants with pockets, and a dark blue long sleeved tunic shirt which was loose and flowing, comfortable to wear. She was actually barefoot. Going to another chair which faced the sofa she had indicated for the twins to have a seat, Cara sat in her chair. "I have a question for the both of you. Do you get along or is there a rivalry that has gone on ever since you were young?"

"I think Yvette will agree, that our rivalry is mostly harmless banter and stems from us perhaps being too much alike." Jason said.

Yvette nodded her agreement and said. "We're both inquisitive and want to know how things work, we can both be stubborn, and will disobey orders that we believe will lead to more harm than good."

Jason agreed. "We're also both analytical and sometimes clinical in our thinking that can cause us come across as uncaring and aloof." Jason added.

Not twins Cara correcting her own assumption. "Well the way you both acted I thought perhaps you were twins. Definitely family though. Therefore you are not yes people, and will not blindly follow leaders into battle. That is a good trait. Hopefully though you will analyze the situation before questioning the one who is in charge of like say an away team?" Cara responded.

"Yes, we analyze the situation." Jason said. "I saved a crewmate against orders and I took my punishment."

"What was your punishment?" Cara asked, her curiosity raised. "And what was it you had disobeyed where the crewman was concerned?"

"We were investigating a derelict vessel when a crewman fell 15 metres through a decayed deck plate. I reported the incident and was told to leave him where he was, while they came up with a way to retrieve him. Minerals in the vessels construction made transport impossible, so I with the aid of two crewman used a rope and pulley system to lower me down to the injured crewman and stablise him, so we could retrieve him they pulled him up and then me and we returned to our ship via shuttle." Jason said. "On return I received a commendation for bravery, and a demotion in rank to Lieutenant JG."

Cara raised an eyebrow at what Jason had said. "So you got a commendation as per helping out a crewman but a drop in your rank due to... not obeying an order? Didn't they do an investigation in to the situation? And was said crewman almost ready to die if what you just said it was a life or death situation?" the Commander was trying to get some facts on this report.

"The Captain, put a lid on the investigation, he had a personal grudge against me. The XO tried to come to my aid, but he was overruled." Jason said. "The CO's name was Captain Graham Cresswell, he's an admiral now." Jason sighed. "I contacted Command about an instigation, but he'd already badmouthed me to them and they ruled it a closed matter."

Cara's mouth went into a thin line for a moment, she'd not heard of this matter before but then again, there wasn't a huge amount of a gathering of admirals out there.

"What brought you both out to SB50?" Cara asked, "And how much have you seen of the station?"

"Well, I was teaching at the Academy and one day a Lt. Commander Mac Murphy, caught me on my way to my office, and handed me a PADD, on it were orders, I had been recalled to active service and was to board the USS Neil Armstrong en-route to Starbase 50, as they were in need of a good Linguist." Jason said. "I hardly had enough time to let my daughter, Jena know I was leaving Earth."

"I wanted to get out of Intel, so I requested a transfer to Security or Operations, and Starbase 50 was the first they found with a suitable position." Yvette said. "I don't think they wanted someone who knows what I know, hanging around Earth, or I could just be paranoid."

Cara just listened to what had been said. "How often have you been in counseling sessions, Yvette?" Cara choosing to refer her by first name.

"Quite a few, I'm sure they're in my records, I would mostly visit a Counselor after field missions, I had to keep the details of these missions from them, but I could speak in generalisations and discuss my feelings with them." Yvette said.

Cara gave a bit of a nod. "I will go over the reports later on. As for you, Jason any concerns that you have currently?"

"I'm a little concerned how I'll acclimatise back to active duty after being away from it for seven years." Jason said.

"I will say one step at at time, one day at time. I do know of other people who have come back into the fold of StarFleet, or even the Marines after being gone for a few years. All it takes is patience and have someone you can talk to. Hence there is the reason why there are counselors. Someone who isn't a part of the family that sort of thing. This station is one that is filled with unique individuals some trying to find their way back or be on a different path." Cara stated.

Jason smiled. "Well then its a good thing I can be patient." He said.

Yvette let out a little laugh, but otherwise remained quiet.

"Oh are you saying that you don't want to talk to a counselor?" Cara asked with a straight face but a twinkle in her eyes. Then she smiled. "OKay all kidding aside. I am available to be a listening ear, and if you do not feel comfortable in talking to me, there are a few others that are a part of my staff. We also have a civilian counselor as well. I've worked with him before, and he is good at his work. Just let me know."

She turned her gaze to Yvette. "Anything you'd like to voice, any concerns? Or do you wish this to happen on a separate visit?"

"I do have a nemesis from my time in Intel, she is an ex-Tal Shiar agent, I only know as T'Kea, her Vulcan alias, from our first meeting." Yvette said. "I'm concerned that she's out there in search of revenge."

"Well just to let you know, we do not have a lax station security. If you have a concern, you can give a description to Commander K'doc Valadorn he can keep an eye out for her. Or for that matter speak to Commander Aer Feshau-Patton our chief of Intelligence. We have a very good team for those who end up trying to do harm to those on the station. Granted their not perfect but the quality of security has gone way up." Cara stated.

"I have another matter to discuss with Commander Valadron, so I bring it up then." Yvette said. "I'll also check in with Commander Feshau-Patton." She added. "Thank you for the advice, ma'am."

"You are welcome." Cara responded to Yvette. "I also have a question for you both. Do you have any other family members on the station? I ask this as this station seems to be a place where family members tend to be drawn to here."

"Our mother's ship is currently undergoing repairs on the station." Yvette said. "I also have it on good authority that, my niece, Jason's daughter, Jena has been assigned to the Station and will arrive within the next couple of days." She added.

"What?" Jason asked. "Last I heard, she was assigned to the Wolverhampton."

"Oops, maybe that was supposed to be a surprise." Yvette said.

"Well looks like the cat is out of the bag now, isn't it. Hopefully you interact with your daughter well enough, Jason. And your mother is here too? Seems I am right when it comes to family being drawn here." Cara giving a smile.

"Actually, I've only known Jena for about 5 years." Jason said. "Her mother, Tela and I dated for a while. She never told me about the pregnancy, requested a transfer and we soon lost touch." Jason paused a moment remembering his time with Tela. "It wasn't until Tela's ship went missing, that Jena found my name in her mother's records, and sought me out."

"And now is your chance to continue on your road of connection with your daughter." Cara replied "That is very important." another look at the brother and sister. "Any other misgivings you'd like to talk about? Or even questions as per my other job ?"

"Something that concerns me about Jena is that she won't call me 'Dad', 'Papa', or even 'Jason'. She insists on calling me 'Professor'." Jason said.

"Have you spoken to her about why she doesn't refer to you as those names?" Cara asked. "And when was the last time you spoke to her?" Cara settling back in her chair.

"I don't think she's ready, the man she knew as her father died in an engineering accident." Jason said. "Maybe she's afraid to let me in and have me die too."

Cara gave a nod, "Then she will be able to come talk to me and we will find out on how to proceed. The best thing I can recommend as well, is to make overtures of friendship. Also set up an family counseling session. May help to make a bridge over the gap that is there."

"Okay, I'll talk to her about it." Jason said. "Though I can't promise she'll want to come, she can be rather stubborn."

"And I wonder where she gets that from?" Yvette said teasingly.

Cara watched the two siblings as the bantered with each other. Then she spoke softly. "Perhaps she can also get to know her aunt, which would hopefully help her out. Either way, there are ways to get to know people outside of the counselor's office."

"Sure."Yvette said. "Her and our mother get along well, they have tea together whenever its convenient."

"What about you, Yvette? Is she willing to get to know you?" Cara queried.

"Yeah, I taught her some martial arts and some ways to extract information from various sources." Yvette said. "She really enjoyed HUMINT practice."

"You put my daughter in danger, just so she'd like you?" Jason accused.

"Calm down, she was safe, I was there." Yvette said.

Cara held up her hand, to pause what might end up being a brother and sister argument. "From what is sounds like you both could use some family counseling, most definitely. I suggest that you both just take a deep breath, and allow yourself to cool off. Regretfully, I do have another appointment coming up."

"Okay, I'll make sure, 'Mon Frère' makes his appointments." Yvette said. "He puts on a big show, but he's really a teddy bear."

Jason stared daggers at his sister but said nothing.

"Thanks, Ma'am." Yvette said. "We'll go now, don't worry, he's just brooding, he'll snap out of it soon." She added. "Good day, Ma'am."

Cara gave a nod, "You have a good day as well, the both of you. And make another appointment, and this time though I will see you at separate times." giving a bit of an encouraging smile.
