Description

"Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't." - Mark Twain

With the announcement of famed holonovelist Jackson Porter's next book, featuring none other than Starbase 50, the entire Aquil Sector is thrown into a frenzy of excitement. Starfleet going above and beyond, rolls out the red carpet, treatment to bask in the anticipated positive attention. But just as the anticipation reached its peak, tragedy struck.

Jackson Porter is found murdered on the eve of the big announcement, leaving the station reeling with shock and disbelief. Security only has one lead - the victim's interactive holographic diary. As they delved into Porter's life, hoping to unravel the mystery, they discovered that things were far more complicated than they could have imagined.

With three suspects on the station, tensions are at an all-time high. The Porter's affair with a Klingon General's wife, a Ferengi who was being blackmailed, and the quiet Trill, who may have been plagiarized, all had motives for murder. As the clock ticks, K'Doc and his team must race against time to uncover the killer's identity and put an end to the madness once and for all.

Will justice be served before the killer slips away into the shadows forever? The stakes have never been higher, and the truth must be uncovered at any cost. It's a race against time to uncover the truth behind the murder of Jackson Porter before it's too late.

Jackson’s Previous Novels

"The Gaian Code" - In this holo novel, a group of explorers discovers a lost planet in the depths of space. The planet, called Gaia, is inhabited by a peaceful and highly advanced civilization. The Gaian Code is a set of laws that governs their society and ensures harmony among its citizens. However, when an outsider threatens the planet's safety, the explorers must race against time to decipher the Gaian Code and protect the planet from harm.

"The Time Traveler's Dilemma" - In this holo novel, a time traveler gets stranded in the past and must find a way to return to his own time. However, his presence in the past begins to have unintended consequences that threaten to alter the course of history. As he struggles to find a way home, the time traveler must grapple with the ethical implications of his actions and decide whether he should attempt to change the past or let it play out as it was meant to.

"The Quantum Key" - In this holo novel, a group of scientists discovers a mysterious artifact that has the power to unlock the secrets of the universe. The artifact, known as the Quantum Key, is sought after by various factions who believe it can be used for their own purposes. The scientists must navigate a complex web of alliances and rivalries to keep the Quantum Key out of the wrong hands and prevent it from being used for destruction.

Departmental Notes:

Security: This one is a no-brainer really, once the murderer is set to pen work with the Porter NPC and help solve the murder (there are hints in the google docs). Until the murder happens, Security will be tasked with providing extra security for the red-carpet events.

Operations/Engineering: continue to work on the station upgrades and the eventual move to the Carlson Rift (as it’s now being called). Security will need assistance with the victim's interactive holographic diary and a dedicated holodeck for this.

Science: Work with the DTI and Intel departments on the stabilization of the Rift. Once the murder takes place, Science will be switched to more Forensic means in assisting Medical in the autopsy of Porter.

Medical: Continue to treat any fall out from the Breen attack; I am sure there is plenty of work there. Once the murder happens, the focus will be switched to an autopsy and murder investigation.

Counseling: Do I really have to tell you what needs to be done in Counseling?

Intel: Work with the DTI and Science Department on a threat assessment for the newly formed Rift. Oh, and don’t you have a wedding to plan?

Marines: Patton knows what to do here; I have faith in his abilities. More than likely, I see drills, PT, and more drills…

Civilians: Typical civilian day-to-day operations and business will increase with the extra foot traffic at the station. Businesses could feature a “Porter” themed special

Jackson's Novel set on Poseidon Station:

"The Poseidon Conundrum"* - In this holo novel, a group of Starfleet officers and civilian scientists on Poseidon Station face a crisis when they discover that the station's power core is failing, putting everyone on board in danger. As they work to repair the core and save the station, they uncover a conspiracy involving a group of smugglers who have been using the station as a hub for illegal weapons trading. The situation becomes even more complicated when a group of Ferengi from the Ferengi Commerce Authority arrive for diplomatic reasons. Tensions rise when it is discovered one of the Starfleet Officers, a young joined Trill, has become romantically involved with the wife of one of the local Klingon ambassadors. The officers must navigate the dangerous situation and protect the station and its inhabitants, all while balancing personal relationships and political tensions between the Federation, the Ferengi, and the Klingon Empire.
