It was morning, and Mathias was hungry, David Scarlet had to leave for parts unknown and the tall redhead decided he'd best also vacate David's quarters. He didn't feel right in staying there while David was gone. It felt to him a little bit intrusive. Besides, he wanted to find a bed of his own instead of a couch. Not that he was complaining, Mathias was grateful, however a man would like his own place, his own space to call his own. First though there was the matter of his stomach which just wouldn't keep quiet.

His stomach growled profusely. "Good heavens, shush you, we will be getting victuals very soon." patting his stomach.

Soon enough, Mathias, following his nose and the callings of his stomach, found himself at a restaurant which served a good breakfast; The Big Easy Bistro. His meal consisted of, a short stack of pancakes with warm blueberry syrup, bacon and scrambled eggs. To drink with it, a glass of orange juice, as well as some tea. Mathias smiled up at the hostess, her skin a lovely rich dark color. Her name was Lisette Bacchus, her husband Alphonso.

"Thank you Lisette and this smells absolutely divine."Mathias took a bite of the pancake, it was the food of the gods and he was amazed. "This is outstanding. Please give my compliments to your husband."

"Why thank you Mathias I will so, and enjoy your meal." Lisette replied with a brilliant white smile.

Mathias gave a nod and then set to work on doing just that, savoring every bite that he took.

The muffin impacted squarely on the left side of Mathias' head and bounced down to the ground. It was quickly followed by a an angered yell.

"You piece of shit!" Mirae shouted as she slammed her tray down on the table she'd been about to sit down at. Her nostrils flared and her eyes shot daggers toward the man who had been seconds ago been peacefully eating his breakfast. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

The other people in the bistro gave her a wide berth as she stalked toward Mathias as a lioness stalks toward a meercat.

The muffin to the side of his head, took Mathias by surprise, his eyes immediately sweeping down towards the floor where the projectile now lay. Mathias leaned over to pick it up, would not be good for someone to step upon it. As he picked it up, the shout and the sound of someone approaching caused Mathias to look up half twisting at his waist towards the person.

The woman approaching seemed familiar, he raised up grazing his right temple on the table. "Oof" Mathias grunting at the quick pain he felt, then he held up the muffin for a moment then remarked, "I see you have lost a food item, and what, praytell did I deserve this sort of introduction?"

Mathias was running through his mental files, trying to figure out who this woman was. The woman was attractive, something about her was bringing up some memories of a place and time he'd rather forget, his eyes flared wide, "Mirae?" he stammered out.

He noticed that Lisette was starting to move towards him, and he shook his head, as if to say she didn't need to step in.

Lisette retreated to tend to another table.

"Here to ask for another dance you pervert?!" Mirae snarled at him as she stood on the opposite side of the table from the man. "I left that damn station, I left my chance to make a difference, I left a life before I even had a chance to build it! And you follow me here? Why don't you go back to your hole and die."

She crossed her arms over her chest to keep from taking a swing, but continued to stare daggers into Mathias.

Mathias sucked in some air as memories came flooding back and he flinched as if he had been sucker punched. His face growing pale. "Mirae, would you be so kind and join me at the table? I am not here to try to get you to dance, and I hadn't any idea you were here. I do apologize for what happened back then. Also you almost got your wish about me dying." he gestured to the seat across from him. "Please, I don't want to cause you any further embarrassment."

A hearty laugh came from her green lips before going back into a snarl. "You want to break bread? Let me replicate some jInjoq and I'll break it across your face."

She was shaking with rage, and she didn't like it. This man represented everything that outsiders and Starfleet thought of Orions and she was sick of it. She pointed a finger at him, and by the gods she wondered if she was quick enough to stab him with her nails. "I don't want to see you swarmy federation face anymore or the least of your worries will be a damn muffin. In fact, keep the muffin. It's a gift. I hope you choke on it."

"Perhaps you and I need to have this conversation elsewhere, and if you want to stab me so be it. Just not here, I don't want any misunderstanding happening to where you get the short end of the stick like last time. And I am not of Star Fleet anymore. Just for your sake lets take this somewhere else." Mathias was quite willing to forgo his food, he'll make it up to Lisette later on. "Please I beg of you, I don't want security to be called. And that damned Niska and her stupid ways and that awful wench I was so stupid in marrying." Mathias truly didn't want another incident happening where Mirae was driven off.

Mirae crossed her arms over her chest to keep from lashing out at him physically. Her eyes narrowed and her green lips twisted into a scowl. She glanced around once and saw that they did have a crowd around them, many of whom averted their eyes when the gazed in their directions. Looking back at Mathias, she let out something between a sigh and a growl.

"Fine. Lead the way. But you try anything funny and I won't hesitate to shoot you and make you wish it'd been lethal." She growled.

Mathias rose from his chair, dropped a couple of slips of gold pressed latinum, enough to pay for his meal and hers then proceeded towards the door.

Lisette moved towards them and Mathias remarked, "Its okay Lisette, I did her wrong early on. My apologies. That is what I owe for the meal and for hers." and proceeded out of the restaurant. He deliberately kept his back to Mirae, as he looked for a place of privacy to where they could talk. He found an empty shop, the door was not locked. "Okay lets go inside here and we can talk unterrupted or you can shoot me. Either way, lets get this done." Mathias stepping inside.

The lights were at 70 percent, and Mathias stepped into the center where there were a couple of counters that were on their sides ready to be worked on. He sat on one and waited for Mirae to be completely in.

Mirae stood to the left of the door. She didn't fear the man, but she liked knowing she was close to an exit when she needed one.

"Talk dirtbag." She snarled. "You got me here, now spill it."

She didn't know who had actually sent her that missive during what seemed a lifetime ago. But she knew it had been his party filled with Starfleet. Right now, he was the target of her fury. And she wasn't going to let some sob story rob her of her anger.

"You have every right to be angry Mirae, every right indeed. What happened to you was horrible and it happened at my- " he shuddered, "bachelor party. Niska, horrible woman one who thought she was the best of the best when it came to dancing and business. For the record, I didn't think you were there to dance for us drunken sods. I did some digging, you were someone making a business that had nothing to do with being an entertainer. I couldn't find out who had sent you that message."

Mathias drywashed his face with his hands as he remembered what happened that day. "I was a stupid love sick puppy, me with a counselor." he scoffed. "She almost was the death of me. " He stated after his hands were lowered. "Shoot me, stab me, punch my lights out. Whatever would make you feel better. Hell, Mirae, I feel I owe you and want to make reparations to you. You lost your business, you left that awful place. And here we are now. Me not being part of Star Fleet anymore, and you running into the very last person you wanted to see." He ended his discourse looking towards Mirae and not making a move towards her.

"So one of your friends decided that it would be funny to get the ex-con to dance for you. I don't know if I should be angry at them, or pity you for having friends like that." Mirae spat. "I'll never accept anything from you Mathias. I've gotten my fill of what you Fleeters are like. And don't give me that sob story about not being one anymore, you were when it happened."

She looked at the human with an icy cold stare. "I have my own ship now. Named after that witch." Litterally. she smirked, thinking of the name she'd chosen. "Now I go where I want and I leave when I want. I do what I need to and keep Fleeters at an arms distance. That's going to continue to include you."

A sarcastic laugh, "They were not friends of mine, hell if you wanna hate me go right ahead. I was just stating a fact not giving a sob story. And yeah I can get the point of you saying bite me. I was just also letting you know I shed the layers of Star Fleet. So don't accept my apology fine, don't want anything to do with me, fine. I'm just here for some reason, part of which meeting up with Scarlet. Never thought I'd see him again." he gave a shrug. "I go where I want to as well, I am a free man."

Mirae shook her head. "You mean the trigger happy guy with the stick up his ass? Yeah, he's around here somewhere." She looked at Mathias and sighed. "Just... stay away from me."

Without another word, she turned from Mathias and walked out of the shop. She had some things to digest. Did she really want to hold onto the hatred? Hell yes. Did she want to direct it at Mathias? Possibly.

Mathias watched as Mirae headed out of the empty store, heaving a sigh as if a heavy burden had settled down upon his shoulders. He'll do his best to stay out of her way but will it work out that way. For the most part though he said, to her back, "As you wish"
