Mission: Pages...
Location: Arboretum - Center Core Deck 77 - Poseidon Station
Timeline: MD006 0800 hrs

Kaylee had been touring the station, seeing what sort of changes had been made since she was last here. One of her favorite spots was the Arboretum, she had to go there, to see if the butterflies were still around. She had noticed damage from the attack of the Breen, and her contacts had spoken to her of what happened. They also spoke of the Arboretum having been damaged as well. This caused her heart to leap into her throat as she gave out a gasp. With a hurried pace, the blonde haired woman stepped inside and the sight she saw caused her to look around in awe. Something definitely has changed. She needed to get to the tree and climb up it to get a better view.

Kaylee took her shoes off and started to climb, her bluish grey eyes taking in what started to show its self as she climbed higher. She sat upon the nearest branch, and hugged the tree. "Oh you are looking so much better!" she gave out a squeal of delight. "Who's been taking care of you?"

"That would be me," a voice said from below her. "And a few others." Brianthe had noticed the woman as she examined the arboretum, but didn't approach until she saw her climb the tree.

"Oh hello, I'm Kaylee, glad you are the healer of the Arboretum." she answered with a beaming smile. "Do you climb trees?" looking curiously at the woman below the tree. "What's your name?" still having an arm around part of the tree trunk.

A woman with luxuriant hair that fell past her shoulders walked out into the open. She looked more like a gypsy in a Starfleet uniform. "My name is Brianthe and yes, I climb trees. I also sing to them." She wasn't going to mention dancing in the artificial moonlight.

"Ohh that is lovely that you do!" Kaylee exclaimed. And she set to climb down to converse with Brianthe. Once she was safely down, Kaylee dusted off her hands. "I am curious, did you happen to find some Fairy wings?" Kaylee 's expression was serious when she asked her odd question. "I forgot them, when I left the station." Her eyes seemed to cloud over when she mentioned her leaving. She leaned back against the tree, as if to seek comfort from it.

Did she? Brianthe wasn't sure. "I don't think so. You could ask Captain Letsul. She oversaw the repairs before I got here." She cocked her head to one side. "What sort of fairy wings were they?" She twirled around. "I haven't seen them since I started working here, though."

"One was patterned after the Glass Wing butterfly, and the other had the colors of the Blue Morpho Butterfly that has that pretty iridescent gleam about it. Then again they may have disappeared after I left the station." Kaylee responded, "I had tried to cheer up a couple of people, inviting them to a small fairy tea party, a little bit of whimsy but it turned out a little bit awkward." Kaylee had a mournful tone to her voice. "They thought I was trying to set them up on a date, I wasn't, I just thought that well maybe a small amount of fun would help them out." she gave a slight shrug of her shoulders.

"A little fun is always helpful," Bri replied. "A butterfly tea party here sounds lovely." She pulled out her PADD and checked to see if there was anything about wings being found in the arboretum.

There is a notation of wings described by Kaylee, had been found and placed into storage.

While Kaylee waited for word about the wings, she gazed around once more, enjoying the feel of the dirt beneath the tree, with her barefeet. "When I served on this station, I was assistant Chief of security. I came here quite a bit. I waded in the stream that was here, did some swinging on the swings, and even climbed the tree. And when the rain came down, I even danced in it. Well not where anyone could see it, but it was hidden so to speak where the butterflies were and we danced together."

"There are some wings in storage," Bri said as soon as she got a reply. "They're probably ours. I haven't seen too many people with them around here." She smiled. "Do you kow where it is, or should we go find them together?"

"I honestly do not know where the storage room is, so yes, please, lets go find them together. " Kaylee responded. "Off we go on a treasure hunt." her glee causing Kaylee to seem a bit younger than what she was. "Sorry, just a little bit excited to see the wings again. I thought they would be lost forever." her face going a bit more serious.

Brianthe grinned. "It's okay. I don't blame you for being excited." She checked on the location of the storage facility and led the way. As they walked, she told Kaylee about the restoration and renovation of the arboretum. When they arrived, she unlocked the door and stepped inside. Hanging from a hook on the end of a shelf were the wings.

Kaylee's eyes were widened at what Brianthe had mentioned what took place. "That is incredible." giving a happy smile. When they found the wings Kaylee walked over and took them down from the hook, cooing softly. "I am so glad you are still here." she looked over at Brianthe. "Thank you, I feel that things are going to be better now that the wings have been found." A thought occured to her, "I probably will donate this to the school though, or leave them here for kids or adults to play with. That way someone can allow their imagination take flight."

The botanist looked at the wings for a long moment. "Are you an artist? I think these would be perfect as some sort of sculpture or display in the arboretum. Maybe even as part of a section set apart for kids filled with faeries and other mythical creatures."

"I did make these, they may not be that good, but I enjoyed making them. And I found them pretty enough." Kaylee carressing the black edge of the blue wings. "Think they are good enough to be used with the kids in a faerie land? That would be so marvelous." giving a smile.

"Of course they're good enough. Kids just need something to help spark their imagination. You could even design several variations of wings for hte replicator and we could let the kids pick the color they want and get their own pair. Yours could be on display to show them what they'll look like when they're done." She'd need a small industrial replicator, but it wasn't unheard of for an arboretum.

"Okay that sounds great!" Kaylee exclaimed. "This means a lot to me. I am so glad I came back here to the station, a place where I feel at home." She looked around once more, "Especially here in the Arboretum. It is remarkable here, where I can enjoy wading in the water and just, not be an adult from time to time."

Bri's smile slowly lit up her face. "Yes. There is definitely magic in an arboretum. To me, it's an escape back to nature and a place to breathe."

Taking in a deep breath, then exhaling softly, Kaylee just beamed. "This is definitely going to be a place for me to do some healing. And I need it most desperately." the last part uttered softly. "And it seems to have been cleansed from the time before. At least I feel it has been." Kaylee gazing about once more.

"The trees and plants just needed a little TLC," Bri said. "And a change of soil. Starfleet sometimes forgets that damage to the arboretum can also add toxins to the soil. But we're getting things back on track. We're even working on changing things up a bit, too."

"I would like to help out if you don't mind that. I need to do something. At this time I'm not... going back to work just as of yet. So want to show me what you will be doing, and are working on? I want some work to do, something that I can really get into." a pleading expression in Kaylee's eyes.

Bri watched her for a moment, then nodded. "Of course. Help is always welcome. Is there something in particular you would like to help with? Perhaps the children's area?"

"Oh that sounds great, hopefully they won't mind gourmet mudpies." Kaylee giving a laugh. "With colored pebbles and lovely shells. Of course there would be edible mudpies that would be delicious. What do you think of that?" there was a sense of wistfulness coming from Kaylee, she loved to play children's games due to her lack of that when she was a child. "Anything for an excuse to get dirty, right?"

"Chocolate mousse pies with candy shells and rice paper seaweed. We could also have buttercream icing so they could add their own decorations." Bri noticed when Kaylee first arrived that she was also telepathic, so she sent a mental image of children sitting around a table making messes as they decorated individual mud pies.

"Oh that is fabulous!" Kaylee giving Bri an embrace. "I wish I could have done that as a child." Kaylee sending a tidbit of how her childhood was, she was the prim and proper princess, well mannered the only girl of her family, taking all the lessons her mother wished her to take. Feelings of frustrations not being able to climb a tree or get dirty.

"Mother wanted me to be a diplomat, and I did it to make mama happy." Kaylee said softly.

"My family lived on the outskirts of our community and had a large property," Bri replied. "On weekends, people would come to gamble, have their fortunes told, or to be entertained. I was taught how to dance and sing. My grandmother wanted me to be especially nice to the men who gambled so they'd spend more money." She stated it as a fact and didn't elaborate. "I preferred to be in the woods, learning about the plants and trees. When I was old enough, I left and ended up in Starfleet." Then she chuckled. "I did get to climb lots of trees, though."

"Lucky, I could be envious but, since I can climb trees now, I won't be." Kaylee giving a light laugh. She drew in a deep breath, just enjoying the feeling of freedom she was experiencing in the Arboretum. A few moments passed, then Kaylee remarked, "Let me know when I can start. And I'll be here bright and early. "

"I will. I need to check the repair schedule, then I'll let you know when and were." Bri was looking forward to working with Kaylee.

"Okay that sounds amazing, and I am looking forward to working with you, Bri." Kaylee giving Bri an embrace, feeling rather happy. She had to be doing something to keep her mind occupied until she figured out where she was going to fit in with things here.

Bri hugged her back. "I'll talk to you soon."

Kaylee smiled, this seemed to be the beginning of a great friendship.
