There she was just outside his ready room. The blonde girl with her medium length hair caught back in a braid worried her lower lip with her teeth. The woman was named Kaylee, formerly a part of the crew on the station. She straightened up her shoulders and just walked inside, took a look at her adopted brother, and said.

"Hello brother, I'm back and oops looks like you are busy. I'll just see myself out." doing a quick about face and stepped out quickly. Kaylee could feel her heart racing, she wondered if she should have brought something with her. She had no idea why she was feeling so nervous right now.

Neil looked up for a moment in utter disbelief. Without saying a word, he stood up and followed Kaylee out the door. Standing in front of Kaylee he looked up and down the corridor.

Kaylee stopped abruptly when Neil made his way in front of her. She watched as he looked for something.

"Looking for the man of your dreams, the one you left the station for," he replied, "you know, my former Counselor Liam Reynolds." He looked at her, "Mister Right?"

Kaylee flinched slightly, a furrow appeared in her brow, the corners of her mouth turned down. "No, I am not looking for him." she stated firmly. "Perhaps I think I came at a bad time anyway."

He embraced her, not a care in the world for who might be watching. "It's always a bad time, you should remember that.. and," he playfully slugged her shoulder, "thank for the messages to my mother," he rolled his eyes, "she's on the station now."

Kaylee froze for a moment when Neil wrapped his arms around her, then relaxed. She then rubbed her shoulder with an overdramatic rub, saying "Owww... I take that is payback for my sending your mom messages? C'mon Neil, I had mentioned getting in touch with her. So shall we step back in your office? And will tongues be wagging once more?" giving him a wink.

Neil laughed, gesturing to his office, "You didn't answer my questions. What happened to Mister Right? The last thing I remember was you leaving the station, chasing my former Counselor ready to marry him and commit?"

Kaylee took in a breath and quickly went back inside the office, and waited until the door was closed, then let out her breath. She turned to face Neil. "We were married a few weeks before he left and then I followed him after Hiro was released from being in the brig. I am sorry I haven't told you about that. There was so much that was happening." she walked over to take a seat on one of the chairs in Neil's ready room. Pulling her braid forward to play with it as she spoke. "I truly thought he was the man for me; there was a connection back then, a bond but-" she flipped her braid back behind her once more.

"It didn't work out." Kaylee held out her hand which was empty of a ring. "I decided to come home." She moved her hand down to her lap.

"You don't need to apologize to me," he replied, "you know most of my past, I am the last person who could judge on failed relationships." He walked over to the replicator and ordered them both a drink.

"I am sorry it didn't work out," he added.

"Well in one aspect it didn't work out; but in another aspect it did. I could say things balanced out and now I am here. All I could do was think about coming back home to here, to see my adopted brother." Kaylee remarked, her shoulders relaxing, feeling a sense of safety, able to talk to Neil.

He embraced her again, "it's good to have you back now," he pointed, "go find my mother and get her off my back," he laughed. "Seriously, I am sorry things didn't work out but," he smirked, "I am glad you're here." He looked at her, "you are here, right? Don't plan on running off with another tall, pale-skinned Counselor?

"No, no I don't plan on running off with someone any time soon." she knew that he was teasing her, well sort of. Kaylee could hear the hopefulness he had hidden in his voice. That of her not leaving anytime soon. Her lower lip trembled slightly, as she became misty-eyed. A tear slipped down her right cheek, followed by another. "Oh Neil, I've missed you so much" Kaylee uttered, her voice thick with emotions. "Damn it, looks like I sprung a leak." wiping away the tears as she tried to make light of them escaping.

"While you haven't been gone that long," Neil smiled, "I think that you will find a lot of things have changed. But, like the old saying goes the more things change the more they stay the same." He sighed, "so much has happened, I am not even sure where to start."

"Maybe after Hiro and I left, you can begin there? Or maybe, start with how are things between you and Adira? I do know of the Breen attack upon the station. And how well security, marine and citizens worked together to save the station. And you look so exhausted as well. You've been working hard, Neil." Kaylee having a concerned look in her eyes.

Kaylee listened to what Neil told her about what went on, her eyes growing rather round at what he sort of revealed. She had a smile on her face when Neil told her about how things were working out between him and Adira of which she was happy about. When the conversation wound down, Kaylee wiped her tears away, getting a more firm expression in her gaze, and a calmness in her heart.

"Well I had better get going brother. I'll see you around, and I am looking forward to that."

Just as Neil was about to answer he got a message, that he couldn't ignore. Kaylee waved goodbye, getting an answering wave from him and she stepped out of his office. It was very good to be back home and to see Neil once more.
